What: A Young Republican Happy Hour –Starting off 2010 RIGHT with the first of many Happy Hours We’ll have beer, wine, soda and snacks

Come support Steve Hunt in his race to fill the Senate seat being vacated by Ken Cuccinelli. Steve will be participating in a candidates' forum on Thursday, January 7, and we need a strong crowd supporting Steve to show the strength of his support in the district! (The special election is January 12.) The forum is being hosted by the Fairfax Family Forum's Northern Virginia Candidates Forum Steering Committee. Questions from the audience will be permitted.

AFCYR Monthly Meeting, Monday, November 23rd, 7-9PM

Thank you again to all AFCYRs that made 2009 a historic year for Republicans in Virginia! Come bask in the glory at the next AFCYR Monthly Meeting that will be held on Monday, November 23 from 7:00 PM to 8:30PM. Before the meeting, people will be getting drinks and networking from 7:00 to 7:30 but the formal meeting starts at 7:30. Please note that we'll be meeting on the mezzanine level, not in the back room.

Our speaker will be Corey Stewart, the Chairman of Prince William County who is known for holding true to his conservative principles. Corey will speak to us about his success with immigration policy in Prince William County and the importance of holding elected officials of both parties to the fire. Please join us as we gear up for the 2010 Congressional midterm elections!

This month our speaker will be Eric Golub. Eric is the author of "Ideological Bigotry" and he blogs for "Tygrrrr Express." For his blog, he's interviewed senators, governors, and other top politicos. He has spoken at many political events in California and nationwide and has written several columns for Andrew Breitbart's site "Big Hollywood." Also entertaining, Eric has performed at the Laugh Factory as part of Evan Sayet's "Right to Laugh" comedy tour.

Arlington County Fair Volunteers Needed

The Arlington Republican Party will have a booth at this fair, the biggest in Arlington, and volunteers are needed. Can you help volunteer? There are four days where volunteers are needed, and any help you can give will be greatly appreciated!

The fair will be held at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center, 3501 2nd St. S., in Arlington. Fair hours are: Thursday, 7 - 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sign up to volunteer by contacting fair@arlingtongop.org or by contacting me at kordiolis@gmail.com. AFCYR Book Club August Meeting, Tuesday, Aug. 18th, 7-8PM, Java Shack, 2507 N. Franklin Road, Arlington.

The AFCYRs are meeting on Tuesday, August 18th at Java Shack for our next book club meeting. Java Shack is very Metro accessible and located in the Courthouse/Clarendon area.

We will be reading "The Cure: How Capitalism Can Save American Health Care" by Dr. David Gratzer. This is an excellent book written by a Canadian doctor who explains why a government takeover of healthcare is not the way to do. Please join us even if you haven't read the entire book. The book is merely a jumping off point for a wider discussion. Please jot down a couple of questions that you'd like to discuss regarding the book.

Join us for our monthly meeting at RiRa in Clarendon on Monday, July 27 at 7:00. Social period from 7:00-7:30 and formal meeting runs from 7:30-8:30. We meet every fourth Monday of the month unless that date conflicts with a holiday or major GOP event.

We are really pleased to have Brent Gardner as our speaker for this meeting. Brent Gardner is the grassroots coordinator for the National Rifle Association, Institute for Legislative Action. In this capacity, he coordinates day-to-day grassroots efforts and legislative outreach activities in 14 states and DC. Before working at the NRA, he had worked at the Leadership Institute in Arlington, VA, and also worked in the political arena in New York, where he gained extensive campaign and political experience working with candidates throughout the state.

Eric Brescia’s campaign to represent the 47th District in the House of Delegates is under way, but he needs your support to break Arlington’s one-party rule and help Virginia attain Freedom, Progress and Prosperity.

In the tradition of the Founding Fathers, come meet Eric and enjoy civilized discussion and fine refreshments with fellow liberty lovers. However, as we all know, freedom isn’t free — so don’t forget to bring your checkbook!

A minimum donation of $25 gets you in the door, but fun liberty-themed prizes will be awarded to those who generously give more.

Please join us for our July Book Club meeting at 7PM on Tuesday, July 21 at Java Shack in the Courthouse/Clarendon area. We will be reading "New Deal or Raw Deal? How FDR's Economic Legacy Has Damaged America" by Burton Folsom Jr. This is is considered one of the most revealing books on the New Deal, uncovering the myth that FDR "saved people" from the Great Depression. Please feel free to join us even if you haven't read the entire book.

Door to Door with Aaron Ringel & BBQ

This Saturday, July 11, Door to Door with VA Delegate Candidate Aaron Ringel & BBQ Afterwards 10am-2:30pm

The AFCYRs will be helping Aaron Ringel in his race for the House of Delegates by going door to door in the fighting 48th this Saturday! We will be going door to door from 10AM until about 2PM and then followed immediately after by a BBQ/Shrimp Boil at the campaign HQ! Feel free to invite friends/family/pets. Anyone and everyone are welcome.

We will be meeting at the Ringel for Delegate Campaign HQ located near the Pentagon City Metro at 1036 16th Street South, Arlington, VA 22202. The campaign HQ is three blocks from the Pentagon City metro station and we can arrange for someone to pick you up if you get lost/need a ride, but it should be pretty easy to find. Please call Christina at (703) 347-4188 if you get lost. BBQ will be at the same location as well. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
